Brady Daniel Zipoy, 23, was booked into Scott County Jail last night pending second degree murder charges for a fatal shooting Monday evening in Shakopee.
Zipoy’s pending charges and mugshot are available on the Scott County jail roster. As of 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, police have not released the victim’s name, but they did announce the victim is a 65-year-old man.
According to a press release Tuesday morning, Shakopee police said they do not believe Zipoy and the victim knew each other. Police do not believe there is any threat to the general public.
Minnesota court records indicate Zipoy was convicted of a petty misdemeanor parking violation in 2015 and a petty misdemeanor for obstructing a fire lane in 2019.
News broke of the fatal shooting Monday after 9 p.m. when the Shakopee Police Department posted on their social media pages that it had responded to a shooting earlier in the evening. According to the social media post, officers arrived to the shooting scene around 7:20 p.m. Monday.
Scanner traffic indicated the suspect may have broken into the window of a house and shot someone, but details have yet to be confirmed by police. Scanner traffic also indicated at one point the victim was in cardiac arrest and being transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. The victim was pronounced dead at HCMC, according to Shakopee police.
According to Scott County land records, Paha Circle is on tribal land owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
