Body recovered from river in Shakopee ID’d as Bloomington man

The body of a man found floating in the Minnesota River near Huber Park in Shakopee on Thursday has been identified as Michael Timothy Erickson, 63, from Bloomington.

According to a news release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the cause of death is still pending investigation, which the Scott County Sheriff’s Office is conducting.

On Thursday morning, prior to the recovery of Erickson’s body, WCCO reported that Bloomington Police were seeking help finding Erickson, who had last been seen by his family a few days prior.

Erickson was found on Thursday when someone near Huber Park called 911 to report a body floating in the river. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to the recovery and was assisted by the Shakopee Fire Department, Shakopee Police Department and Bloomington Police Department.
